ASW Meets LuxDeco Founder & CEO Jonathan Holmes
Written By Kabir Awatramani
Meet Jonathan Holmes, the CEO & Founder of LuxDeco: a British-based digital platform for high-end designer homeware and furniture. While trying to decorate his own home, Holmes discovered a gap in the online market for luxurious furniture, and LuxDeco was born. As a luxury retailer, LuxDeco stands apart in its attempt to deliver the same personalized treatment a shopper would receive in a brick and mortar store. The site features a concierge service for style advice and bespoke items, detailed product information and editorials. Holmes’ diverse curation appeals not only to classicists, but also to the more idiosyncratic aesthete with a penchant for equestrian picnic-sets and Art Deco drawing rooms.
Why do you do what you do?
To help people create beautiful homes they love. Shopping for the home can be daunting, we try to make it far more enjoyable.
When you’re not working, you can be found…
… in the gym or relaxing with my Kindle, although I don’t have too much free time at the moment.
You’re the kind of traveler who….
… likes a beach side location, great service and great company.
What is your favourite travel destination? The best place to stay? Where to eat?
I love the US and try and make a trip every year. My favourite place to stay has to be the Aria in Las Vegas, and my favourite place to eat has to be STK, which thankfully is in all of my favourite cities.
What is the one thing you never leave home without?
My Moleskin notebook, I am forever writing my ideas down so this is my essential companion.
What is your best style advice?
Find a good tailor and make sure you have a good well-cut navy blazer. It’s a gentleman’s essential.
What’s your next great adventure?
My focus at the moment is growing the business into an international brand. An office and home in LA would be the dream.
Words to live by?
A famous quote from Wayne Gretzky – “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”
